MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival: 1994 - Present

MAIN ST. is more than just an arts festival, it is an entertainment showcase. Labeled as one of the top three fine art shows in the nation, MAIN ST. boasts over 200 juried artists and craft exhibitors and three stages along the brick-paved Main Street. Over $4 million worth of art is sold during the festival.  Hundreds of live entertainers and musicians, along with nationally recognized food and drink vendors, complement the scene.  The festival includes the regionally acclaimed Fearless Film Festival, which has brought even more creative talent to the area.

 

Jay Downie serves as the director of events for Downtown Fort Worth, Inc., and works directly with over 1200 volunteers to produce the event.  He is responsible for all fundraising and production elements, raising over $1M annually to produce the event.

MúsicArte de Fort Worth – Fiesta in Sundance Square: 2008 to Present.

 

The food, art, music and family fun of the Americas--South, Central and North—come once again to the heart of Texas Oct. 8-9, 2010 during Musicarte de Fort Worth – Fiesta in Sundance Square, a celebration of Latino heritage and culture in Sundance Square.

 

Jay Downie serves as the director of events for the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is responsible for all fundraising and production elements.

Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights: 2005 - Present

The Parade of Lights features over 100 entries, a special Holiday Fun Zone presented by XTO Energy and the lighting of the Sundance Square Christmas Tree.  The parade is broadcast in its entirety on TXA-21.  Over 150,000 people attend annually.

Grand Excursion: 2001 - 2004

The Grand Excursion was a once in a lifetime event celebrating the historic 1954 route of riverboat and steamboats up the Mississippi river from the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The event totaled over 1 million attendees who enjoyed the many events along the route, as the ship flotilla brought with it special events, festivals, parades, and programs. 

 

Downie Productions Inc played in integral role in the riverboat journey.  Jay served as the President and CEO of the $10M initiative, and was responsible for building the staff, and for raising over $8M from foundations to complete the project.

Tall Stacks: 1987 - 1999

Tall Stacks is a week long fesitival that has brought upwards of 800,000 people and 19 historic riverboats to the port of Cincinnati.  It is five days of live entertainment, great food, and cultural heritage that has been a icon of the city and a centerpoint of the region.

Working with the staff of the Bicentennial Commission, Jay was responsible for the creation and production of this event for the first time in 1988, and continued producing the event until 1999.
